The gap between organic and free range eggs is huge.
Free range means birds are given access to the outside for at least 8 hours a day, but they can still be kept in giant flocks of up to 16,000 and can be given chemically treated feed.
Organic birds are reared in small flocks on an organic diet and can roam across pasture. Akiki eggs are biodynamic. They are kept in small flocks of 100 which means the eggs, which are collected by hand, come from contented birds on healthy soil as nature intended.
